I refer to myself as a musician, first, primarily because I view the entire dance of life as One—Big—Symphony. And yet! My foremost passions have remained composing, producing and performing music since as long as I can remember.
While I revere music for transmitting diverse truths of life as felt, capsules-of-catharsis — I do Evolutionary Astrology for capturing the logic of our reality in opposite yet equally resonant terms. Music Swoons, while Astrology Shines-a-Light on the energy dynamics comprising reality as-we-know-it.
I see the ultimate healing power of both Music & Astrology in their shared ability to validate and put precise language to what already is – from the perspective of our contrasting poles of existence. The work of healing, after all, is the work of joining the many parts of ourselves in holy communion.
And this is the work of The Light & The Weight: to demystify how we perpetuate opposition in our lives and to model a new paradigm for expanding our consciousness in harmony with the laws of nature. The fact that I formed The Light & The Weight as a band, business, and overall nebulous bridge-to-many disciplines is a personal statement toward this purpose 😉
The quote above from Dr. Brené Brown’s book, Rising Strong, animates my basis for Astrology & Music completing each other: Astrology works chiefly to Enlighten (Aquarius) as Music works mainly to Embody (Leo).
I mention these Zodiac Signs since they are naturally opposite one another; and unsurprisingly they comprise the House locations of my personal nodal axis. The existence and synergy of “both—and-more!” in the human experience is the force that creates pathways for emotional assimilation and wisdom that couldn’t otherwise blossom!
Prior to earning his MBA in Sustainable Systems from Presidio Graduate School, Danny worked in communications at the White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) and then at the Northwest Earth Institute. During business school Danny also worked closely with Community Sourced Capital on changing the ways conventional society thinks about finance—from doing harm to healing, and as a tool to create the world we actually want to live in.
My overall approach to life and work is trans-disciplinary with an emphasis on reflecting the innate connectedness, inter-being, and thus ultimate Wholeness of all of life. I believe that our calling at this pivotal point in human evolution is to navigate the relativity of Life on Earth not by righteousness — but with our compass pointed toward curiosity and compassion.
My litmus test for intention and action can be framed by the question, “Does it lead with love?” Embedded in this question is an acknowledgment of Earthly paradox and its emergent need for more nuanced and truthful answers to our global issues than “good vs. bad,” “old vs. new,” and “growth vs. decline.” Only when we ask, “Does it lead with love?” are we able to transcend false duality and discover enlightened paths forward, together.
Embrace Paradox as a Portal for our Vulnerability, Integration & Elevation.
